uTracersNXT in service:

5th of March 2026 Gerhard reported the very first uTracerNXT “in the field” working!

Thanks Ronald,

Very excited about the new uTracerNXT.
Received the kit last week, and the included build instructions were very straight forward.
The manual is a great guide for incremental assembly and test.
Completed successfully within a few hours incl. calibration.
Now assembling the wiring for tube sockets and start putting it to use.

Thanks again,
Gerhard

7th of March 2026 Per-Robin reported his uTracerNXT working!

Hi!

I finished calibration of my uTracerNXT this friday and it's been a smooth process following the manual. One thing I experienced was an error message displaying "Supply voltage too low", which was the result of L1 not having sufficient contact on one solder pad despite using the trick suggested in the manual, might be something worth adding to the manual.

In the calibration process for the anode and screen currents, I decided to match resistors in order to get exactly 10kOhms since the supplied 2W 10k resistors measured around 9800-9900 ohms for me. That made the math more straightforward instead of having to see what current is to be expected when clicking around on the chart.

Other than that it's been a pleasurable experience and less daunting than expected when first looking through all the steps in the manual. Next up is ordering a case, sockets and and all the other tidbits.

Best regards,
Per-Robin Eriksson

18th of March 2026 Tony McKenzie finished his uTracerNXT and made a video of it for his YouTube channel!

Watch his videos Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 coming!

6th of April 2026 Ihor (who promised to adapt his uTracerJS GUI for the uTracerNXT!!) reported his NXT working!

Hi Ronald,

I just wanted to update you that I am done with assembly of the uTracerNXT (attached the photo), everything works as it should, the process was really smooth and well explained. I will start looking into the changes to uTracerJS when I come back in a week, and will keep you updated. Then we can also plan a teams meeting.

My son is also now into 3D printing and is always looking for printing something:) I thought I might make a small case/box for the uTracer together with him. Those printed boxes are quite strong these days and all possible holes for connectors and so on can be printed, I mean everything looks very professional in the end. I also read that cathode is now referenced to the ground so a single power supply can be used for the external heater as well (using those Chinese DC/DC converters, for example). So one can have everything is a compact 3D printed box, even with nice Voltage/Current meters as indicators…

Cheers,

Ihor
